The 98th Academy Awards ceremony will take place this Sunday, March 15. The gala will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, and as always, will bring together numerous stars. The ceremony will once again be hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien, who made his debut as host last year. Joining him will be the team that brought the event to life in 2025. Hollywood stars Adrien Brody, Chris Evans, Chase Infinity, Demi Moore, Javier Bardem, Kieran Culkin, Kumail Nanjiani, Maya Rudolph, Mikey Madison, and Zoe Saldaña will also present the awards this year.

This year’s Academy Awards includes musical performances by Raphael Saadiq, who will perform the Oscar-nominated original song I Lied to You from Sinnars; Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami — the singers behind HUNTER/X — who will perform the original song Golden, from the animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters; and Josh Grobany and the Los Angeles Maestro Choir.

Among the favorite films of 2026, Sinners stands out with 16 nominations. In fact, Ryan Coogler’s film has broken the record for most Oscar nominations. Other notable contenders include One One Battle Sfter Another, with 13, and Frankenstein, Marty Supreme, and Sentimental Value, each with nine. Spanish cinema will be represented by Sirât, as Óliver Laxe’s film will compete for Best Sound and Best International Feature Film.

When does the show start?

The Oscars red carpet will begin welcoming the stars on Sunday, a few hours before the ceremony, which will start at 7:00 p.m. On the West Coast. This is the third year in a row that the gala has begun at 7:00 p.m. — a time which is not too late for the U.S., nor too early in the morning for Europe.

Starting time in America:
  • East Coast of the United States, from 4:00 p.m.
  • Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua from 5:00 p.m
  • Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Panama and Peru from 6:00 p.m.
  • Bolivia, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic from 7:00 p.m.
  • Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay from 8:00 p.m.

Where to watch the red carpet and the ceremony

The ceremony is being broadcast live on ABC and Hulu. But in Spain, the Movistar Plus+ platform (channel 15) will be broadcasting the red carpet and the awards. And as is tradition, EL PAÍS will also offer live coverage of the event from Los Angeles and from its newsrooms in Madrid and Mexico.
